Canada Ontario Labour Market Development Agreement

Unauthorized persons can benefit from LMAs qualification and training services. Workers who lack basic skills and low levels of reading and writing can also benefit from LMA-funded skills and training. Bilateral agreements have been signed with the 10 provinces and 3 territories. LMAs make $500 million per year available to provincial and territorial governments to cover the costs of these services. The goal of the LMAs is similar to that of the LMDAs; The objective of the funding is to increase the participation of under-represented groups in the labour market and to ensure that these groups have the appropriate skills to compete in the labour market. [24] 23.1 Canada and Ontario agree to conduct a review of the operation of this agreement in fiscal year 2010-11 to assess whether the results are desirable for both parties and whether they should continue their labour market agreements under this agreement. At the end of this audit, each party may terminate the contract at any time in two years to give intent to the other party. In accordance with Section 63 of the Employment Insurance Act, the Employment Insurance Commission of Canada, with the Minister`s approval, has the legislative authority to reimburse the provinces and territories and other organizations for the costs of labour market programming, which is similar to the BSMS. 19.2 Canada and Ontario agree to develop, through the Section 7 OMDA Management Committee, mechanisms to do everything in their power to ensure the full and effective use of the financial resources provided for in this agreement.

This appendix presents mutual understanding between the parties and agreements on measures of results to be used, the goal setting process, results reports and outcome targets for 2007-08. 4.1 Canada and Ontario agree to develop a common labour market information strategy that will define how each party will work on the collection, analysis, production, dissemination and use of local, provincial and national labour market information to support economic progress. With this strategy, the parties will act as follows: In Ontario, this agreement has been an important driver of the province`s approach to integrating its full range of investment services, most of which are provided by Community institutions. Overall, the transfer of services to the provinces worked well and evaluations showed that this transfer led to more seamless access for clients.
